Introduction
Fin is Intercom's AI support agent. It answers customer conversations across chat, email, voice and messaging apps. It runs natively inside Intercom's helpdesk and can also sit on top of Salesforce, Freshdesk or HubSpot. Fin is sold on outcomes, so you pay $0.99 each time it closes out a conversation instead of a flat licence fee.
This review is based on Fin's own pricing and product pages, its G2 rating, and independent write-ups from aissist.io. scored.tools has not run Fin on a live support queue. Our overall score is 5.6 out of 10. Fin has broad channel support and an easy trial, but its headline resolution claims hold up poorly against outside tests, and its billing model makes the monthly bill hard to forecast.
Key Features
Multi-channel coverage
Per the vendor, Fin handles tickets, email, live chat, WhatsApp and SMS, and supports Voice, Chat, Email, Social and Slack as channels. Most AI support tools start with chat and add other channels later, so this is one of Fin's clearer advantages. Fin Voice is priced separately through sales and has no public price.
Actions in external systems
Fin can take actions that update external systems, such as changing a record or triggering a workflow, so it can do more than answer from a help centre. The pricing page also lists a Pro add-on, from $100 per month, that includes Operator, with extra Operator credits at $0.01 each.
Works with Intercom or your current helpdesk
Fin is native to Intercom Helpdesk. Intercom also sells a helpdesk-agnostic version that connects to Salesforce, Freshdesk and HubSpot. Teams that don't want to migrate off their helpdesk can still buy it, which matters because a helpdesk switch is a much bigger project than adding an AI agent.
Setup and trial
Fin's pricing page says setup takes under an hour. The 14-day free trial needs no credit card and, per the pricing page, includes unlimited outcomes with no seat limits. We found no independent evidence on how long real deployments take. Expect connecting knowledge sources, tuning answers and building actions to take longer than the hour quoted for setup.
Developer access
We found no evidence of a public API or SDK for building on Fin directly. For engineering teams that want to script, test or extend the agent from code, this is a gap. Integration happens through Intercom's product and its listed connectors.
Pricing Breakdown
Fin's pricing has more moving parts than the headline $0.99 suggests. Here is what the pricing page lists as of October 2026:
| Item | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Free trial | $0 for 14 days | No card, unlimited outcomes, sales can extend |
| Outcome | $0.99 each | 50 outcomes per month minimum on the helpdesk-agnostic plan |
| Qualification | $9.99 each | Billed separately from standard outcomes |
| Fin with Intercom | $29 per helpdesk seat per month | Plus your Intercom plan (Essential, Advanced or Expert) |
| Fin with your current helpdesk | No seat fee | Unlimited teammates, per the FAQ |
| Copilot add-on | $35 per user per month | Currently listed for Salesforce |
| Pro add-on | From $100 per month | Includes Operator; extra credits $0.01 each |
| Fin Voice | Custom | Through sales |
The definition of an outcome matters most. Per the pricing page, billable outcomes include resolutions, procedure handoffs to a human, disqualifications and self-serve routings. You're charged once per conversation even if Fin takes several actions, and there's no charge when a conversation reaches your team without an outcome. Some of those billable events are handoffs to humans, so you can pay for a conversation that a person still has to finish.
That makes budgeting awkward. A spike in volume, a product launch or a bad week of bugs raises your bill directly. For an Intercom shop the $29 seat fee sits on top of both usage and the base Intercom plan. A rough floor for the agnostic plan is $49.50 a month (50 outcomes at $0.99), and real spend will scale with conversation volume. Pull three months of ticket counts before the sales call and model the bill at a few resolution rates.
Resolution Claims vs. Independent Evidence
Intercom markets Fin as the "#1 AI Agent" and has cited a 76% resolution rate. Independent tests reported by aissist.io put Fin's resolution between 38% and 72%. Those figures come from a third party with its own position in the market, so treat them as one data point. They are still the best outside check available, and the spread is wide. The high end is close to the vendor's figure. At the low end, more than half of conversations still reach a human.
Resolution rate depends heavily on how clean your help content is and how routine your tickets are. A SaaS company with a well-kept knowledge base and repetitive billing questions will land differently from a company with messy docs and complex technical issues. The trial is the only reliable way to find your number.
On user sentiment, Fin holds a G2 rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 3,904 reviews. That is a strong score from a large sample, though G2 reviews measure satisfaction with the product overall and say little about resolution on any one queue.
Scores
| Criterion | Score | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| Output quality | 5/10 | G2 4.5/5, but independent tests show 38-72% resolution against the 76% claim |
| Ease of use | 7/10 | Vendor says under an hour to set up; no-card trial; no independent usability data |
| Pricing value | 5/10 | Per-outcome billing plus seat fees; hard to predict |
| API and integration | 6/10 | Native to Intercom, connects to Salesforce, Freshdesk and HubSpot; no public API or SDK found |
| Problem fit | 5/10 | Many channels and actions, but resolution below the marketed figure |
| Overall | 5.6/10 |

Who Is It For
Fin fits support teams already on Intercom who want an AI agent without adding another vendor. Their helpdesk, inbox and reporting stay in one place, and the setup path is the shortest. It also suits teams on Salesforce, Freshdesk or HubSpot that need multi-channel coverage, particularly WhatsApp, SMS or voice, and are willing to pay per outcome.
It's a weaker fit for teams with tight fixed budgets, since cost tracks volume. Teams that want to build their own agent logic in code will run into the missing API evidence. If your main need is answering technical questions from documentation, Kapa.ai targets that case directly. If you'd rather self-host and control the model and data, AnythingLLM is an open-source option, though you give up Fin's helpdesk integrations and channel coverage.
Verdict
Fin is a reasonable choice for Intercom shops that want an AI support agent and can live with variable cost. The channel coverage is wide, the helpdesk-agnostic option is useful, and the trial costs nothing. The 76% resolution figure and the "#1" label deserve scepticism, given independent results as low as 38%, and the outcome definition means you pay for some conversations that still go to a human.
Recommendation: run the 14-day trial of Fin on your real queue before signing anything. Measure the resolution rate yourself, count how many billable outcomes are handoffs, and use those two numbers to model a month of spend. If your resolution lands near the top of the independent range, Fin pays for itself on routine tickets. If it lands near the bottom, keep looking.
