Zendesk AI Agents vs Intercom Fin vs Ada: 2026 Comparison

Zendesk AI Agents, Intercom Fin and Ada compared on pricing, integrations and real resolution rates, with a clear pick for each type of support team.

Why this comparison matters

Most support teams buying an AI agent in 2026 end up with three names on the shortlist: Zendesk AI Agents, Fin and Ada. All three answer customer questions on their own and pass the hard ones to a human. They also charge per resolved conversation in some form, so the AI line on your invoice grows with your ticket volume.

The marketing numbers are close. Intercom advertises a 76% resolution rate for Fin and Zendesk talks about 80% automation. Independent reviewers report much lower figures for both, and Ada's public reputation splits sharply depending on which review site you read. This piece sets the vendor claims next to what third-party sources say, lays out the pricing as each vendor publishes it, and gives a pick for each kind of team.

Zendesk AI Agents

Zendesk's strongest point is its developer surface. The developer docs cover APIs for tickets, messaging, voice, the help center and the AI agents themselves, plus SDKs for web, iOS, Android and Unity and a webhook layer. Add the 1,800+ app marketplace and you can wire the AI agent into nearly anything. That is why it scores 9 for integration, the highest single criterion score in this comparison.

Delivery is the weak point. The open.cx review of Zendesk AI Agents reports real automation of 40 to 60% against Zendesk's 80% claim, and cites independent tests showing very low correctness in multi-turn conversations. The same review says only 10% of AI agents built stayed in use. G2 reviewers rate AI accuracy at 85%, so single-question answers look fine. The trouble shows up when a customer asks a follow-up. On the positive side, Zendesk publishes a customer case reporting a 66% automation rate and $14k in monthly savings, which shows what a well-fitted setup can reach.

Intercom Fin

Fin is the most portable of the three. It runs natively in Intercom, and Intercom also sells it as a standalone agent on top of Salesforce, Freshdesk and HubSpot. Channel coverage is the widest listed here: chat, email, voice, WhatsApp, SMS, social and Slack. Fin can also take actions that update external systems, such as changing an order or account record.

Intercom says setup takes under an hour. That claim, plus a no-card trial, is why Fin gets the top ease-of-use score (7). Resolution quality is less clear. Fin holds a 4.5/5 G2 rating from 3,904 reviews, while aissist.io reports independent tests landing between 38 and 72% resolution against the 76% Intercom markets. We found no public API or SDK documentation for Fin itself, which limits custom builds.

Ada

Ada sells to large enterprise support teams and does not publish prices. Per eesel.ai's review, it offers omnichannel coverage, CX integrations and escalation to human agents, which is why it scores highest on problem fit (6) for enterprise automation.

Its reputation is split. G2 shows 4.6/5 from 173 reviews, while Trustpilot shows 1.9/5. The eesel.ai review collects customer reports of conversation loops, lost context and escalations to humans that fail. A broken handoff is the worst failure an AI support agent can have, because the customer is stuck with no path out. We found no public evidence on Ada's setup effort or API depth, so those criteria carry no score.

Pricing comparison

All three bill on outcomes in some form. The details below come from each vendor's pricing page as of October 2026, except Ada, which has no public pricing.

Zendesk AI AgentsIntercom FinAda
Unit price$1.50 per automated resolution (committed), $2.00 pay-as-you-go$0.99 per outcomeRoughly $1 to $3.50 per resolved conversation, per eesel.ai

Seat costSupport Team $19, Suite Team $55, Suite Professional $115 per agent/month, billed yearly$29 per Intercom helpdesk seat/month on the pricing card (varies by plan); no seat fee when Fin runs on another helpdeskCustom contract
MinimumA Zendesk plan50 outcomes/month when used with a non-Intercom helpdeskMedian contract about $72,000/year, per eesel.ai
Copilot add-on$50 per agent/month, Professional or higher$35 per user/monthNot published

Fin's $0.99 covers more than resolutions. Intercom also charges it for procedure handoffs, disqualifications and self-serve routings, and charges $9.99 for a qualification. Conversations that go to your team without an outcome are free. Zendesk defines an automated resolution as a request resolved with no escalation to a human, which is a cleaner definition to audit.

Some simple arithmetic on the published prices: 1,000 AI resolutions a month costs $990 on Fin and $1,500 on Zendesk at the committed rate, before seats and before Zendesk's small included allowance. A 10-agent Suite Professional team gets 100 resolutions included, which trims that bill to $1,350. Ada's reported median contract works out to $6,000 a month, which only makes sense at enterprise volume.

Fin wins on unit price. Zendesk is more predictable if you commit to a volume up front. Ada is the hardest to budget because you can't see the price until sales gives you a quote.

Use case scenarios

You already run Zendesk and have engineers: pick Zendesk AI Agents

If your tickets, macros and help center already live in Zendesk, adding AI agents there avoids a second vendor and a data sync. The API and SDK coverage lets your developers build custom actions and in-app flows that the other two don't document publicly. Plan your business case around the 40 to 60% automation that users report, and ask sales for a committed resolution price before signing.

You run Intercom, or want an AI agent without switching helpdesks: pick Fin

Fin is the clear choice for Intercom teams, and the best option here for teams on Salesforce, Freshdesk or HubSpot who don't want to migrate. There's no seat fee in that setup, the unit price is the lowest of the three, and the trial needs no card. The risk is cost drift, since several outcome types are billable. Track the outcome mix weekly during the first month.

You're a small or mid-size team on a tight budget: pick Fin

A 50-outcome minimum is about $50 a month. Neither Zendesk (seat plans plus resolutions) nor Ada (custom contracts with no free path found) gets near that entry point.

You're a large enterprise with a procurement team and a pilot budget: consider Ada, with conditions

Ada targets this buyer and scores best on problem fit. Make any contract depend on a pilot that tests human escalation directly, given the failed-handoff reports eesel.ai collected. If the pilot can't show clean handoffs, Zendesk or Fin at enterprise volume will cost less and carry less risk.

Verdict

None of these scores above 6 overall, and all three fall short of their marketed resolution rates in independent reports. Expect to automate roughly half your volume, then size the budget from that.

  • Best for developer-led Zendesk shops: Zendesk AI Agents (5.8). Its integration depth beats the other two, but multi-turn accuracy is its weak spot.
  • Best overall value and flexibility: Fin (5.6). It has the lowest unit price and the widest channel list, and runs on four helpdesks. Watch which outcomes get billed.
  • Enterprise only, after a pilot: Ada (4.7). It is built for scale, but the 1.9/5 Trustpilot score and handoff complaints need answers before you commit to a $72,000 contract.

If you're starting fresh, run Fin's 14-day trial first. It costs nothing and gives you a real resolution rate on your own tickets to compare against any quote from Zendesk or Ada.
